Everton are reportedly closing in on an £8million deal to sign Manchester City midfielder Fabian Delph this summer – and Aston Villa fans have reacted on Twitter by urging their club to bring Delph back.
The Telegraph claimed last week that Everton were keen on Delph, 29, and were looking to take the two-time Premier League champion to Goodison Park – with City seemingly willing to sell.
Former Leeds and Villa star Delph only managed 20 appearances in all competitions last season, 11 of which came in the Premier League. The versatile left footer has less than 12 months remaining on his current deal.
Delph joined Villa in the summer of 2009, spending six years at the club before joining Manchester City. He clocked up 134 appearances in all competitions for the Midlands club before moving to the Etihad.
Villa need a new central midfielder. The club have offloaded Glenn Whelan and Mile Jedinak on free transfers this summer. They have been linked with the likes of Kalvin Phillips and Douglas Luiz, but no move has been made.
Aston Villa fans reacted to the news that Everton were closing in on a bargain £8million move for their former star this summer, and supporters want Dean Smith to rival the Toffees and bring Delph back to Villa Park.

I think I'd b OK with #delph. 8 mill is decent fee when you look at Phillips price. He could do a job for us. If wages were reasonable n fits with the squad then I would b happy but he would need to show he wants to play for the shirt. #avfc can't c it happening though

Badly handled situation but ultimately did us a favour by signing a new contract so we got cash, he was given the chance to move closer to home for mega bucks after just having a baby so could be by family. offered 4x more salary to move jobs most would do so. I’d have him back.
