Aston Villa have reportedly entered talks with their ace John McGinn about a new deal – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are ecstatic about the speculation.

The Daily Mail reports that Villa are in talks with the 24-year-old about an extended contract and want to secure his future beyond 2022.

The report explains that the Midlands club are “confident” that they can come to an agreement, which will fend off interest from suitors West Ham and Leicester City.

McGinn has admirers following his eye-catching displays in the Championship, which finished with a play-off final victory at Wembley to earn promotion.

The left-footed midfielder was an elite performer for Dean Smith’s side since he joined last summer for a bargain £3million.

He was directly involved in 17 goals in 44 games across all competitions, which included a stunning volley from long-range that highlighted his threat as a goalscoring central midfielder.

A selection of Villa supporters on social media are buzzing that McGinn is primed to sign a new deal and have used the club to pay what is required to keep him.

He has come a long way in just over a year since departing Scottish club Hibernian and is now set for his chance in the Premier League.
