Aston Villa fans thrilled as club confirm signing of Jota

Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of Birmingham City attacker Jota – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter are thrilled with the news.

The Midlands giants have made their first signing of the summer window, with the Spaniard arriving on a two-year deal (official website).

He’s made the switch to Villa Park and reunited with manager Dean Smith in the process, after the pair previously worked together at Brentford.

Meanwhile, Gary Garner has gone the other way and completed his switch from Villa to Birmingham on a permanent basis.

Smith is starting his preparations ahead of next season when his team will be competing in the Premier League and he’s immediately added a player he’s familiar with to his squad.

He’s a diminutive attacker that usually plays on the right-wing and he’s proven himself to be a tricky customer in the Championship in recent years.

The wide man made 41 appearances this campaign for Birmingham, where he was directly involved in 12 goals for them.

A selection of Villa fans on social media have reacted positively to Jota’s arrival and feel he’s a strong addition to the squad going into next season.

He will help crank up competition in wide areas and will get his first taste of top-flight football in England.
