Aston Villa fans rip into Albert Adomah after win against West Brom

Albert Adomah completed 67 minutes in the home win over West Brom on Saturday – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter destroyed him for his performance.

Dean Smith’s side recorded a 2-1 home victory in the first leg of their play-off semi-final, which means they hold the advantage ahead of the second leg next week at the Hawthorns.

Adomah got the nod in the starting XI on the right wing ahead of the likes of Andre Green and Jonathan Kodjia.

The 31-year-old offered very little attacking threat when on the pitch and his side were a goal down when Dwight Gayle pounced on a Glenn Whelan mistake in the 16th minute.

He was taken off in the second-half and after he left the pitch there was a stunning turnaround by the hosts.

Villa drew level when substitute Conor Hourihane fired one in from outside of the box in the 75th minute with his left foot.

They then took the lead just four minutes later when Tammy Abraham stayed composed from the penalty spot.

A late Gayle red card for a second yellow of the afternoon means he will miss the second leg and it’s a colossal blow to West Brom.

A selection of Villa fans were highly critical of Adomah’s contribution and it will be intriguing to see if he starts the second leg.

The right-winger has just four goals and three assists across all competitions this campaign, while his replacement Green caught the eye against West Brom.
