Aston Villa fans react to Tom Heaton heroics despite 1-0 loss

The goalkeeper put in a fine display despite Aston Villa’s 1-0 loss at Selhurst Park.

Aston Villa lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace yesterday in the Premier League thanks to a goal from former Villa striker Jordan Ayew.

It was a tough pill to swallow for Aston Villa, especially as Henri Lansbury’s late equaliser was wrongly ruled out by referee Kevin Friend.

However, it was not one of Aston Villa’s best performances. Dean Smith’s side struggled to get a grip of the game and found it even harder after Trezeguet was sent off for two bookable offences.

But one player who did impress the Aston Villa fans was goalkeeper Tom Heaton.

Signed from Burnley in the summer for a fee reportedly (Lancashire Live) in the region of £8 million, Heaton has been tasked with solving the club’s long-standing goalkeeper issues.

Whilst he had a mild blip against Bournemouth earlier in the season, he has been a fantastic addition so far.

The England international was certainly on top form yesterday, keeping Aston Villa in the game against a rampant Palace.

Without his heroics in goal, Lansbury’s late effort would not have been the controversy it was as Palace might have been out of sight.

Aston Villa fans are certainly impressed by what they have seen from the player so far this season.
