Aston Villa have made a bid for Angers midfielder Baptiste Santamaria but have seen it turned down, according to French outlet L’Equipe.
The report says that Villa have made a 7 million euro (£6.3 million) offer for the 24-year-old, but have seen it rejected by the French outfit.
Santamaria apparently wants to come to Villa Park after three seasons with Angers, but Villa would need to up their bid in order to add him to their engine room.
Villa have already done a huge amount of business this summer and some supporters feel that perhaps when the Marvelous Nakamba deal gets over the line, their interest in Santamaria will wane.

With the arrival of Douglas Luiz already this summer, signing Nakamba would make Villa’s central midfield options very strong, and some supporters feel that Santamaria wouldn’t be needed.
But others are happy for Smith to go on collecting players up ahead of their return to the Premier League and one even suggested he might be better than Marvelous.
It remains to be seen if Villa will go back for the midfielder having seen that first bid turned down or whether Santamaria will have to shelve his hopes of a move to Villa Park.
