Neal Maupay has posted on Twitter after agreeing a move to Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion from Brentford despite being linked with Aston Villa – and Villa supporters have replied to his Tweet.
Maupay, 22, has caught the attention of Premier League clubs this summer after the Frenchman starred for the Bees last term. He scored 25 Championship goals in 43 league games for the London-based side.
BBC Sport claim Brighton have splashed £20million to sign the former Nice striker, who has 41 goals and 14 assists in 95 outings for Brentford in total. Dean Smith was in charge of the Bees when Maupay joined Brentford.
The Express claimed earlier this week that Villa wanted to sign Maupay and have been linked with the striker throughout the summer, after he worked with Smith. Maupay, though, has joined Brighton and posted on Twitter.
Villa are said to be after a striker, despite bringing in Wesley Moraes from Club Brugge. Other than Wesley, Villa have Keinan Davis and Jonathan Kodjia but there are question marks over whether they are good enough.
Aston Villa fans replied to Maupay’s Tweet, with some questioning why he would choose Brighton over Villa. Others have rued the fact that he has opted to ignore Villa’s interest.
