Aston Villa fans react to Middlesbrough chairman Gibson’s comments to EFL

Middlesbrough chairman Steve Gibson has called on the EFL to investigate the financial activity of three Championship clubs, according to the Telegraph.

They report that Gibson wants the affairs of Aston Villa, Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday looked into with regards a possible contravention of the new profitability and sustainability requirements.

Gibson reportedly believes that those clubs are trying to bypass those rules, while his club have sold players such as Ben Gibson and Patrick Bamford to balance the books after spending big to try and get back into the Premier League.

The Boro supremo apparently plans to take his concerns further at upcoming meetings, and it remains to be seen how the situation plays out, with Birmingham having been docked nine points earlier this season for the same issue.
