Aston Villa endured a frustrating evening last night as they were held to a 0-0 draw by ten-man West Ham United at Villa Park.
Arthur Masuaku was sent off in the second half for a second bookable offence but in actual fact it was the visitors who improved after his dismissal, and looked the most likely to win the game on the counter attack.
Summer signing Marvelous Nakamba made his Villa debut anchoring the midfield for 81 minutes before being replaced by fellow new-boy Douglas Luiz as the Villans went in an ultimately fruitless pursuit of the goal.
But he showed decent energy in his maiden Villa display and plenty of supporters took to Twitter to react to his debut.
On the whole, the supporters were impressed with what they saw from the midfielder, on a night where there weren’t too many other positives for their side.
Villa’s attacking players struggled to make an impact but Nakamba played his part in keeping a clean sheet, which did see them nudge themselves out of the relegation zone.
The fans will hope there’s plenty more to come from the energetic midfielder after a debut which showed there is promise there…

A good debut for Nakamba,

Nakamba played well in patches. Decentish debut, I thought. Villa's defence is top-half level, but in attack we currently look bereft of goals. Could be a lot of frustrating 0-0 & 1-0's this season. #AVFC

Nakamba has been good. We've had most the ball. Couple of sloppy passes doesn't change that. He hasn't hided. Our wingers are the problem. Have done nothing. #avfc
