Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn is reportedly a transfer target for Manchester United this summer, according to The Sun. It is claimed that the Scottish international is seen as a potential midfield option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this summer as United look to improve on last season’s poor conclusion.

The report then goes on to suggest the price-tag Aston Villa have slapped on the midfielder. The newly-promoted side would want £50 million to even consider selling the former Hibernian man.

Considering he cost just under £3 million a year ago, according to BBC Sport, that is an incredible return.

Others have in fact suggested that the £50 million is not enough. McGinn was the club’s player of the season, so in many a Villa fans eyes, he is simply indispensable.

But despite the majority of Aston Villa fans shrugging off this latest rumour, there is still trepidation from some, perhaps concerned that Manchester United could swoop in for a key man this summer…
