Lovre Kalinic could be on his way to Italy. According to Il Secolo, Kalinic is a target for Sampdoria. The Serie A club want him to compete with Emil Audero for the goalkeeper spot.
Kalinic has fallen down the pecking order since his £7m (talkSPORT) move from Gent last January. He cost a hefty fee but only managed eight appearances before Dean Smith dropped him.
Jed Steer took the gloves and helped Aston Villa to promotion. Then, this summer, the Villans signed Tom Heaton. With Orjan Nyland also on their books, Aston Villa do not need Kalinic anymore.
The Croatia international could be available for transfer. He has until September 2 to sort out a move to somewhere in Europe. And Sampdoria could give him the opportunity to reignite his stalling career in Italy.
Aston Villa fans flocked to Twitter to discuss the Kalinic exit rumours. The 29-year-old has failed to impress at Villa Park and quite a few fans will be relieved to see him leave. Here are some tweets discussing Sampdoria’s interest in Kalinic.
