Aston Villa fans react to Ezri Konsa’s performance in EFL Cup draw against Leicester

Aston Villa played out a 1-1 draw with Leicester City last night in the first leg of their EFL Cup semi-final clash at the King Power Stadium.

Dean Smith went with a back three against Brendan Rodgers’ high-flying side and came away with a strong result to take back to Villa Park for the second leg.

Ezri Konsa formed part of that defensive trio which kept the likes of Jamie Vardy quiet and set up a perfectly poised second leg.

Villa have struggled at times for defensive solidity this season – letting in four goals in the Premier League meeting between the sides – but the new system worked well last night.

There were plenty of Villa fans on Twitter keen to praise the defender, who signed this summer from Brentford and is going from strength to strength at Villa Park.

They loved the way he helped keep Vardy quiet and his performance has helped put Wembley in sight, if Villa can finish the job in the home leg.

More performances like this from Konsa would be a real boost in Villa’s bid for survival and the supporters are clearly hoping to see more of the same.
