Aston Villa trio James Chester, Kortney Hause and Jonathan Kodjia will miss Saturday’s home match against Bournemouth, according to Dean Smith.

Villa’s official Twitter account posted a clip of Smith stating that the threesome would miss the first game back at Villa Park since the club’s return to the Premier League.

He said: “James Chester’s still missing, Kortney Hause is still missing – he got an ankle injury in Leipzig – and Jonathan Kodjia as well, he got injured early on in the Tottenham game.

“He saw the game out but he’s got a bit of a high ankle sprain so it’ll be about ten, twelve days out as well.”

It was the absence of Kodjia that Villa fans on Twitter mainly focused on, with many worrying that their club was too short up front despite a busy transfer window.

Keinan Davis will likely take up Kodjia’s spot on the substitutes’ bench against the Cherries – which is an exciting prospect for the powerful forward.

But there remain fears – especially if something should happen to Wesley – that Villa’s goalscoring options may prove slightly thin on the ground.
