Aston Villa fans react to Anwar El Ghazi performance v Brighton

The Dutch winger had one of his trademark off days against Brighton.

Aston Villa picked up a hard-fought win over Brighton in the Premier League yesterday, winning 2-1 at Villa Park.

The star of the show was undoubtedly Jack Grealish. In front of a watching Gareth Southgate, the midfielder scored the equaliser and then bagged an assist as Matt Targett fired home a late winning goal for the home side.

It was, however, not the most fluid performance of Villa’s season, and that includes many of their defeats.

Plenty of players seemed slightly off the boil, which is certainly how many people felt regarding Anwar El Ghazi’s performance.

The Dutchman struggled to have any influence on the game from the wing and he floated in and out of proceedings.

He then missed a golden chance to score which left plenty of Aston Villa fans aghast on Twitter.

Overall, the consensus was that he had a bad day at the office but Aston Villa fans should be used to this by now. El Ghazi always struggles for consistency and there was a point last season when many fans wanted his loan cancelled due to bad form.

However, he fought back and on his day the wideman can be an incredible outlet for Dean Smith’s side.

Hopefully, going forward, there are plenty more of his good days over his bad days for Aston Villa.
