Aston Villa players are having a good time at this summer’s African Cup of Nations. Following on from Jonathan Kodjia’s winner for the Ivory Coast, Ahmed Elmohamady scored a goal for Egypt yesterday.
The host nation secured their place in the next round of the competition with a 2-0 win over DR Congo in Cairo.
Elmohamady got things started with a goal in the 25th minute. A goalmouth scramble ended up with the ball falling at his feet. The 31-year-old managed to sort his feet out in no time before sending an outside of the boot strike beyond the DRC keeper.

It was a fine little finish from the player, who will be hoping to lift the trophy as The Pharaoh’s captain this summer.
Aston Villa fans were certainly impressed with the goal. Elmohamady is a popular figure with the fans at Villa Park who will hope he can shine in the Premier League next season.
The versatile star will certainly give Dean Smith options in a number of positions next term as well as Premier League experience from his time with Hull City.
