Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to Weston McKennie reports

A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to implore the club to do all they can to sign Weston McKennie after Birmingham Live reported that the midfielder is hoping Dean Smith’s men will make a move this summer.

McKennie looks to be one of the most-wanted players amongst Premier League sides during this window. ESPN reported that six top flight teams had tracked the USA international in the last couple of months.

ESPN’s report claimed that Southampton were leading the race. That came after Sky Sports suggested that the Saints had entered into talks with Schalke regarding a potential £20 million move.

Birmingham Live reported that McKennie is keen to join the Saints. But they also reported that he is hoping for Villa to make a move before he makes a decision.

It remains to be seen whether Villa do decide to make a bid in the near future. ESPN did not name Smith’s side as one of the teams interested in the 21-year-old.

But it would certainly appear that it would be an incredibly popular decision should they join the running.

Many believe that he would be an outstanding addition to the midfield. In truth, it appears that McKennie has the potential to fit in most Premier League squads due to his versatility.

But several have insisted that he would be a brilliant signing during this window.
