A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to comment on reports from The Sun suggesting that Dean Smith is interested in Southampton striker Michael Obafemi this summer.

The Villans need to add to their attacking ranks during this window. Wesley and Mbwana Samatta scored six league goals between them last term.

Interestingly, one of the club’s reported targets however, is a player who bagged just three league goals during the last campaign.

The Sun has reported that Villa and West Brom both want Obafemi. It is suggested that Southampton would be willing to sell if they receive a bid of £10 million for the Republic of Ireland international.

The reports appear to have left some of the Villa fans on social media divided. Some are hoping to see the club make a big statement in the market when it comes to signing a striker.

And unfortunately, they do not believe landing Obafemi would achieve that. His goalscoring record is underwhelming, and the Saints are seemingly demanding a hefty fee.

But there are plenty of fans who have given a potential move their backing. They believe that Obafemi has enormous potential and could prove to be a steal at £10 million.

Here is how some of the Villa supporters reacted to the links with Obafemi…
