Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to Matt Targett contract reports

A number of Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to react to a report from The Athletic this week claiming that Matt Targett is in talks over a new contract.

Targett has been a revelation for Dean Smith’s side this season. Like several of his teammates, he endured a difficult campaign last year as Villa found their feet back in the Premier League.

But his game has gone to another level this term. And it appears that he is set to be rewarded for his performances for the Villans.

According to The Athletic, Villa have opened discussions with the 25-year-old over fresh terms. It is noted that his current contract has just over two years left to run.

Villa have extended the contracts of a lot of their key men this season. And the supporters clearly feel that extending Targett’s deal is yet another step in the right direction.

Some have lauded the former Southampton man as one of the most creative players within their squad. It is actually remarkable that he has only provided one assist so far this season.
