Aston Villa defender James Chester has signed for Stoke City on a permanent deal, the Villans confirmed earlier today on their official website.
Chester, 31, signed for Villa in 2016 from West Brom for an undisclosed transfer fee (Guardian).
He has proved a loyal servant to the club playing 126 games, scoring 11 goals in the process.
The 31-year-old spent time on loan with the Potters during the second half of last season, featuring 16 times for the club.

He now moves permanently but a quick glance at Twitter suggests he’ll be fondly remembered.
Chester served Villa well and captained the side during his time at Villa Park.
A committed performer, Chester was struck with a knee injury which ultimately saw him miss the Play-Off Final win over Derby during 2018/19.
Nonetheless, the centre-back was on hand to lift the trophy alongside Jack Grealish in a sentimental moment for Chester.
It was always hard to see the player forcing his way back into Dean Smith’s plans and a move looks best for all parties.
Following the news, supporters took to Twitter and it’s fair to say the majority of supporters wish well Chester for the future.
Here is a selection of tweets from the Villa faithful.
