Aston Villa have announced that Ross McCormack has left the club by mutual consent. The Scottish striker had a year left on his contract but the club and player have agreed to end what has been a poor spell at Villa Park for the player.
As reported by the BBC, Aston Villa spent £12 million on the Fulham striker who had proven himself a potent scorer at this level at Craven Cottage as well as with Leeds United and Cardiff City.
But he struggled at Villa Park and had a tumultous relationship with former boss Steve Bruce.

For Aston Villa fans the news comes as a relief. Not only because of his poor performances at the club, but also due to his wages.
As reported by the Daily Mail, McCormack’s wages were about to rise to £70,000-a-week as a result of a promotion bonus in his contract at Aston Villa.
Considering he has not played for the club since September 2017, that would have been a disaster for the club’s finances.
