Aston Villa fans react as Wesley Moraes receives surprise Brazil call-up

The big striker has had an inconsistent start to life as an Aston Villa player.

Aston Villa spent big to bring in Brazilian striker Wesley Moraes over the summer. The Club Brugge frontman cost the club a reported (Daily Mail) £22 million after impressive form in Belgium.

It looked a decent signing for a player with bags of potential and Aston Villa fans have quickly got behind the big man. That is despite a mixed bag so far in terms of his performances for Aston Villa.

Wesley has scored four goals in 11 games for the club so far but has struggled to find consistent form. That said, he has clearly done enough to impress the bosses of his national team Brazil.

The 22-year-old has been called up to the Brazil national team for upcoming friendlies with Argentina and South Korea in the Middle East, taking the place of injured Ajax star David Neres.

The striker will join Aston Villa team-mate Douglas Luiz in the squad and it has certainly caught a lot of Villa fans by surprise.

Regardless, most Aston Villa fans are over-the-moon that their hard-working striker has been given this chance by his nation. Hopefully, it can inspire him to an eye-catching display against rivals Wolves this afternoon.
