Dean Smith has been named the Championship’s Manager of the Month for March after overseeing a flawless run of 15 points from five games, according to the division’s official Twitter account.
Villa’s play-off prospects looked bleak a matter of weeks ago but the return of Jack Grealish, as well as Smith’s passing principles becoming more settled at Villa Park have seen the Midlands club fly up the league.
Now they look set to make it to the top six with relative ease and Smith has been rightly credited for his role in that achievement.
Today’s game against Bristol City is a huge one in the race for the play-offs, and potentially a chance to land a psychological blow on a club who could well be an opponent in them.

But Villa fans are concerned about the potential curse of the award, where as soon as a team’s achievements are acknowledged, the success dries up.
Some of them may have their tongue in cheek but there is a sense among some of them that the timing of the award could hardly have been worse with some a big came coming up.
We’ve put together the best of the nervous reaction…
