Aston Villa fans react as Said Benrahma shines for Brentford on Monday

Said Benrahma scored for Brentford on Monday night as the Bees earned the bragging rights in the Championship’s west London derby with a 3-1 win at Loftus Road – and Aston Villa fans have reacted to his display on Twitter.

Ollie Watkins scored a stunning brace for Brentford on Monday night, while Benrahma also got on the score sheet to down QPR and former Brentford manager Mark Warburton. Grant Hall scored the only goal of the game for QPR.

Algeria international Benrahma joined Brentford from Nice in the summer of 2018 and hit the ground running in England’s second tier. He scored 11 goals and laid on 19 assists in 45 league and cup outings.

This season, it has been a bit more indifferent for Benrahma. Indeed, the attacking midfielder’s goal on Monday night was just his second strike in 12 games this season – as well as laying on only two assists.

The Birmingham Mail claimed in the summer that Aston Villa were interested in signing 24-year-old playmaker Benrahma, but were quoted an enormous £25million price tag. Dean Smith’s side were only willing to go as high as £15million.

Aston Villa supporters watched on as Brentford’s 3-1 win was televised, and many fans of the Midlands club are desperate for the newly-promoted side to land the playmaker in the January window.
