West Ham United battled bravely but were unable to cope with Liverpool when it really mattered on Monday night as the Premier League leaders came from behind to win 3-2 – but Aston Villa fans were impressed with Robert Snodgrass.
David Moyes’ side battled bravely and came from behind to lead 2-1 early in the second half. Snodgrass, 32, curled in a perfect cross for Issa Diop to equalise after Georginio Wijnaldum had given Jurgen Klopp’s side the lead with an inch-perfect header.
Pablo Fornals came off the bench to make it 2-1 to the Hammers after 53 minutes, but Liverpool notched it up a gear and that was too much for the Hammers to handle. A Lukasz Fabianski mistake allowed Mo Salah to score an equaliser.
Trent Alexander-Arnold shone throughout once again from the right side of Liverpool’s defence, and the England cap notched his second assist of the night when he gave Sadio Mane a tap-in to win 3-2. Liverpool are now 22 points clear.
Snodgrass, though, did himself no harm. The £10million West Ham signing (Sun) laid on his 10th goal contribution in 24 Premier League games with his assist for Diop, having previously netted five goals and created four more.
Villa fans are no strangers to the Scot’s impressive form in the final third, having had him on loan during 2017-18 – where the ex-Leeds man scored eight and created 13 in 43 outings. Many Villa supporters reacted to his display, urging him to return.
