Reputable journalist John Percy is claiming that Aston Villa are set to hand Matty Cash a new contract – despite him only arriving from Nottingham Forest in September.
The Telegraph reporter believes Dean Smith is keen to hand the 23-year-old fresh terms after a standout maiden campaign playing Premier League football.
Cash checked in during the summer transfer window for £16 million from the City Ground and he’s produced the goods for his new club.
He has played 25 times in the top-flight and the statistics show him to be one of the top-performing right-backs in the Premier League.
Cash has exceeded expectations since checking in and has Villa fans dreaming of gatecrashing a place in Europe next season.
The contract he signed in the summer is worth £65,000-a-week but the club are keen to hand him an extension after just seven months at Villa Park.
Following the latest reports here are some Tweets from Villa fans who seem happy at the decision to give Cash fresh terms.
Well earned, best RB we've had at Villa since Delaney and Barrett right up there with the best in my lifetime
