Aston Villa fans react as report confirms worst fears about injury striker Wesley

Aston Villa striker Wesley could reportedly be out for between six and nine months, following the injury he sustained against Burnley.

The Brazilian was challenged forcefully by Clarets defender Ben Mee in the 71st minute and received lengthy treatment.

Fans had been fearful as to the extent of the damage, and HLN are reporting it’s very bad news for the South American.

Apparently the former Club Brugge man has torn his posterior cruciate ligament and is set to undergo surgery.

It is a cruel blow for the club’s record signing, who would have been on a high from scoring his first league goal since October earlier in the game.

It’s been a tough start to life at the club for Wesley, who would no doubt have been hoping 2020 could have been a new chapter for him.

Villa fans react

Plenty of Villa fans were dismayed to learn of Wesley’s injury lay-off.

He has rightfully been criticised at times, but the vast majority of Villa supporters were behind Wesley to turn his form around.

The injury has now robbed him of a chance to do that, and his pain was shared by supporters on social media:
