Aston Villa fans react as Jonathan Kodjia’s departure from the club is confirmed
The striker has joined Al Gharafa, who are based in Qatar.
Aston Villa have confirmed on their official website that striker Jonathan Kodjia has departed the club.
Former Bristol City striker Kodjia has joined Al Gharafa, who are based in Qatar, for an undisclosed fee having struggled for gametime this season.
Villa are short on firepower but Kodjia was not deemed the man to fire Dean Smith’s side out of trouble and he has been allowed to depart.
Plenty of Villa fans reacted to the news on Twitter, although many of them were more focused on the way it was revealed, rather than Kodjia’s departure itself.

They felt that a player who performed well at times for the club in the Championship and was hampered by injury deserved more than a brief, understated send off.
That was the theme of many replies, with fans wanting to wish Kodjia luck themselves, feeling that the club hadn’t one a good enough job of that themselves, with their official Twitter post.
On top of that, there is increasing desperation from the fans for Villa to bring in a new frontman to replace Kodjia and help score enough goals to escape relegation.
That all he gets?

I’ll say it for you… Thank you @J_Kodjia for the goals you scored in that first season. Thanks for being a character our club desperately needed over those 3 Championship Seasons… And all the best for the future King Kodj. ???
