Scott Hogan has opened up about his season at Aston Villa while on international duty with the Republic of Ireland.
The 27-year-old striker has been speaking to RTE about another testing campaign at Villa Park, where injuries and a loss of form hampered him once more.
He said: “I’m confident if I get 40 games, I’ll get 25 goals. I’ve got to go in and get my head down and try to break into that team.
“If I can’t do that then I have to hold my hands up and look elsewhere. I just want a run of games. The only time I had a run of games at Villa I did get the goals.”

Hogan’s confidence in his own ability doesn’t appear to have wavered but many Villa fans took to Twitter to respond to his comments – and urge their club to rid of Hogan this summer.
The hitman does have ability and an eye for goal, but that’s no use when he’s on the sidelines – especially with the standard jumping up in the Premier League.
Hogan isn’t going to get 25 goals next season in the top flight even if he played every single minute of every single game – and many among the Villa faithful want him out…
