Brighton manager Graham Potter has been reportedly added to Aston Villa’s shortlist to replace Dean Smith – and Villa fans have reacted on Twitter.

Potter, 46, is shining at Brighton. Taking over the Seagulls in the summer of 2019 as Chris Hughton’s replacement, Potter has kept them up twice.

Two places of 15th and then 16th, Potter has got off to a flyer in 2021-22. The Seagulls have only lost two of their 11 league games, sitting in seventh.

Solihull-born Potter has been linked with numerous jobs as his Brighton side continue to impress. Tottenham, Newcastle and more have been linked.

But he has contract at The Amex until the summer of 2025. It means any club trying to get him will have to pay plenty of compensation.

That has not stopped Villa from adding him to their shortlist. The Record say Potter is on their managerial list to replace Smith during the break.

However, there are numerous other names – including the likes of Steven Gerrard, Paulo Fonseca, Frank Lampard and even Ralph Hasenhuttl.

What are Villa fans saying about Brighton boss Potter?

Villa need a spark. Many pundits have suggested that it was always going to be difficult for Smith to recover from the loss of star player Jack Grealish.

Moving on from Smith helps Villa get over the Grealish era. A new manager is crucial, but it is an incredibly important appointment.

Villa are still establishing themselves back in the Premier League and whoever comes in, will be under pressure. Villa fans want Potter.
