Dean Smith has moved to end any speculation linking Jonathan Kodjia with an Aston Villa exit. Speaking to a press conference ahead of the weekend’s game with Bournemouth (via Aston Villa’s YouTube channel), Smith said: “We don’t welcome any offers.”
Kodjia came off the bench in the first game of the season as Aston Villa lost 3-1 to Tottenham Hotspur. He is currently out injured but he is the first-choice back-up striker.
Nonetheless, he has been linked with a move to Turkish Super Lig heavyweights Besiktas. Orta Cizgi report that Kodjia is a target for Besiktas before the European transfer deadline.

However, Smith has rubbished these reports and told fans that Kodjia will remain an Aston Villa player. The 29-year-old played second fiddle to Tammy Abraham last season and he will provide cover for Wesley Moraes this season.
But with limited alternative options up front – aside from youngster Keinan Davis – Aston Villa need to keep Kodjia. The fans have taken to Twitter to express relief after Smith confirmed the Ivory Coast striker will be staying. Here are some of the best tweets.
