Aston Villa fans are excited about a potential future signing in the former of Bordeaux winger Mehdi Zerkane, with the club reportedly scouting the 21-year-old attacker.
L’Equipe report that Villa had scouts in France on Sunday night to watch the Algerian international against RC Lens, with the left-sided forward scoring his first goal of the season for the Ligue 1 club as Bordeaux cruised to a 3-0 win, with the report stating that the Villains have been watching Zerkane for as long as three months.
Villa’s head of recruitment, Rob Mackenzie, has a good track record when it comes to signings from France, with the former Leicester City scout playing a role in the Foxes signing both Riyad Mahrez and N’Golo Kante as the duo played a huge role in Claudio Ranieri’s 2016 title-winning season.
And these past successes had Villa fans on social media excited over Zerkane, with his position and nationality having some supporters think that Mackenzie has unearthed the next Mahrez, who joined Leicester from Le Havre in 2014.

Villa could find a deal for Zerkane easy to complete this summer, with Bordeaux being plunged into administration last month as reported by the Independent.
