Aston Villa are reportedly close to completing a move to sign KRC Genk striker Mbwana Samatta for a bargain fee of £8.5million – and Villa fans have reacted on Twitter to the reported news.

Samatta, 27, has caught the attention of a number of Premier League clubs after scoring three goals in six Champions League group games earlier this season. The 51-time Tanzania international even netted at Anfield against Liverpool, in a 2-1 defeat.

In total, he has scored 10 goals in 28 league and cup appearances and after almost 200 games for Genk, Belgian outlet HLN have claimed that he is on his way to Aston Villa for the bargain fee of just £8.5million.

Villa are in desperate need of a striker after Brazilian summer signing Wesley was ruled out beyond the end of the season, after going down under a tackle from Burnley defender Ben Mee during the 2-1 win at Turf Moor.

Jonathan Kodjia is being linked with an exit given his current contract position, with many Championship clubs including Nottingham Forest reportedly interested. It leaves Villa with no option but to enter the market for a third time this month.

After already signing Pepe Reina and Danny Drinkwater on loan, it looks as though Villa will now bring in striker Samatta for a reasonably small fee. Villa fans have reacted to the reported news, and a group of supporters are delighted.
