Aston Villa are reportedly one of five Premier League clubs looking to sign Hertha Berlin striker Davie Selke before Friday’s 11pm deadline – and Villa fans have urged their club to get a deal done for the German target man.
Villa are desperate to sign a new striker this month after Wesley was ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury, and both Jonathan Kodjia and Scott Hogan securing moves this month. Only Mbwana Samatta has been signed.
German newspaper Bild have claimed that Villa are interested in signing 25-year-ols Selke before the end of the January deadline, with Selke said to be keen on a move. That is because Hertha are about to sign Krzysztof Piatek from AC Milan.
Piatek, 24, has been a name thrown about for much of the January window, with Villa themselves linked with the Poland international at one point. Manchester United, Tottenham, Newcastle, Chelsea and West Ham have also been linked.
Bu the Pole is moving to Jurgen Klinsmann’s Hertha and Selke is now keen to leave the Bundesliga side, as he looks to keep his 2020 Tokyo Olympics dream alive. Selke has managed just one goal this season.
Aston Villa fans reacted to the reported news that their club were interested in signing the Germany Under-21 international, and many have urged the club to get a deal done for the target man.

He's a quality striker, would fit well – but the Bild ist the least serious newspaper in Germany. Don't take it too seriously.
