Aston Villa could make a move for Austria Wien striker Christophe Monschein in January.

As reported by Sport 24, the Premier League club are looking to take advantage of the Austrian outfit’s financial concerns by landing the in-form forward, who has 13 goals in 18 games this term.

Wien may have to cash in on their star striker to ease their worries, but management are concerned that by doing so, relegation becomes a genuine possibility.

Apparently Villa have some reservations about his €5 million/£4 million asking price, but that figure is surely more than affordable for the club’s rich owners.

It would seem Dean Smith is keen to add another attacker to the mix, with summer signing Wesley Moraes experiencing mixed fortunes in the Premier League so far.

27-year-old Monschein has never played in a league outside of his homeland before, and is not capped at international level.

Villa fans react

A number of Villa fans weren’t exactly bowled over by the links to Monschein, who is obviously a little known entity to fans of English football.
