Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of Egyptian wideman Trezeguet on their official website.

After protracted negotiations with Turkish outfit Kasimpasa, the winger – whose real name is Mahmoud Hassan – has signed on the dotted line at Villa Park.

Villa boss Dean Smith said: “We’re really excited to work with ‘Trez’. I’ve watched him a number of times. He’s the type of wide player that we have been looking for who is direct, causes problems for the opposition in the final third and scores goals.”

And the supporters on Twitter were not slow to react when the club’s official account confirmed the news they’d all been waiting for.

They’re so excited to see what the 24-year-old can bring to the club and he should offer a clear upgrade on departed winger Albert Adomah, whose place he will be expected to take.

It has been a lively summer for Villa as they seek to get their squad ready for the demands of the top flight and this is arguably the most exciting signing; a young, international wideman capable of making and scoring goals.
