Young striker Cameron Archer made his debut for Aston Villa on Tuesday night as he came on during the 6-1 Carabao Cup win over Crewe Alexandra in the 82nd minute – and Villa fans reacted on Twitter.
Archer, 18, came on in the 82nd minute to replace Keinan Davis with Villa already in control of the match. Archer showed some nice touches, worked hard and put himself about – as his rapid rise at Villa continues.
Despite his tender age, Archer has already clocked up 10 appearances for the Midlands outfit’s Under-23 side – scoring three goals against Middlesbrough, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Reading last season.

For Archer, his debut is testament to his hard work in the reserves. Dean Smith is recognised that, and his eyes could now be firmly fixed on rivalling the likes of Wesley Moraes, Jonathan Kodjia and Keinan Davis up front.
Ezri Konsa opened the scoring, while Jack Grealish, Fred Guilbert, Davis and a brace from Conor Hourihane saw Villa ease into the third round of the Carabao Cup. Ryan Wintle scored a consolation for Crewe in thr 84th minute.
Aston Villa fans reacted on Twitter to Archer’s cameo display, which lasted eight minutes of normal time – and many were impressed with the youngster. He is expected to remain a regular in the second string, but could make a handful more substitute appearances in the near future.
