Aston Villa fans react as £12m clause in defender’s contract comes to light

Brentford defender Ezri Konsa is reportedly a target for recently-relegated side Fulham after his £12million release clause came to light – and Aston Villa fans have reacted on Twitter.

Sky Sports claim interested parties can land the 21-year-old for a fee of £12million this summer, and Fulham are looking to beat off interest to land the England youth international as they look for an instant promotion.

Konsa made 47 appearances last season, helping Brentford avoid a relegation scrap. He also helped the Bees keep 11 clean sheets, and is said to be one of the country’s best young centre-backs.

Villa are in desperate need for new central defenders this summer. Tyrone Mings and Axel Tuanzebe have returned to their parent clubs in AFC Bournemouth and Manchester United, while Tommy Elphick has joined Huddersfield.

Permanent moves have been discussed for both Mings and Tuanzebe, but both players are yet to agree deals. Reports suggest that a move for Mings is much more likely to happen than Tuanzebe, with United keen to keep him.

Villa fans have taken notice of the reports that the highly-rated Konsa has a £12million release clause, and many believe he would be a good signing for Dean Smith’s side this summer if they cannot land Mings.
