Aston Villa were beaten 2-1 away to Manchester United on Friday night – but some of the club’s fans on Twitter did give big credit to their midfielder John McGinn for his performance.
They went toe-to-toe with Man United at Old Trafford, but Dean Smith’s side ultimately ended up leaving with zero points despite contributing massively to a fascinating Premier League match.
Anthony Martial put the hosts in front just before half-time with his header, before Bertrand Traore drew level in the 58th minute with his close-range finish on his favoured left foot.
But ultimately the Midlands giants were undone by a Bruno Fernandes penalty, albeit there was some controversy regarding the awarding of the spot-kick after midfielder Paul Pogba appeared to trip over his own leg in the penalty box.

A selection of Villa supporters on social media felt that their star McGinn deserved a special mention for his contribution against Man United.
The 26-year-old has played every single minute in the league so far this season and he’s an ever-present in Smith’s XI due to his stamina, attitude and quality in possession.
He is a left-footed central midfielder that showed some quick thinking in the build up to Villa’s equaliser with a free-kick and displayed the kind of work-rate throughout that he’s become so renowned for.
