Aston Villa fans praise El Ghazi after Barrow win

Some Aston Villa fans have praised the performance of Anwar El Ghazi after the win over Barrow.

What’s the story?

The £8m Netherlands international scored a brace as the Villans thrashed the League two outfit 6-0.

He was aided by youngster Cameron Archer who scored a hat-trick for Dean Smith’s outfit. Frederic Guilbert scored the other goal.

It was the Dutchman’s first strike that got everyone talking. Villa were awarded a penalty after Jaden Philogene-Bidace was fouled in the area.

El Ghazi assumed responsibility, chipping the penalty before celebrating by shushing the Barrow fans. The 26-year-old scored his second before half-time with a sumptuous volley.

El Ghazi still an important player

Just like the last two transfer windows, the Midlanders have been busy.

Leon Bailey and Emiliano Buendia have joined the club in big-money deals. After all those moves, you may have thought it would impact the likes of El Ghazi.

However, he remains an important player for Aston Villa despite the summer signings.

His performances over the course of last season were incredibly consistent with the ace scoring 11 times. He has continued that form into the new campaign.

And the player has continued on the goal trail this season with strikes in each of his last two games. Prior to his brace versus League Two Barrow, he scored a penalty in the win over Newcastle United.

If ever the manager needed reminding of how good the attacker was, he has been shown this season.

Here is how some Aston Villa fans reacted to his latest performance…

Meanwhile, one player had Ian Taylor beaming with pride.
