Douglas Luiz completed 90 minutes in the defeat to Manchester City on Saturday – and some Aston Villa fans on Twitter were excited by his individual performance.
Dean Smith’s side did lose 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium, as their resistance was broken in the second-half and their opponents went through the gears.
Raheem Sterling opened the scoring just after half-time, while David Silva and Ilkay Gundogan also notched goals.
Villa were unable to pick up any points on their free hit at champions Manchester City, but have still made a fairly decent start to the campaign and held their own in the first-half.
Luiz was promoted to the XI for his first league start since August and he delivered the kind of display that suggests he may become a regular feature moving forward.
The 21-year-old central midfielder impressed against his former side and he was pushed into a more advanced role that gave him freedom to attack.
He came close to scoring in the first-half after a mazy run and the Brazilian does add some extra creativity.

A selection of Villa supporters on social media were impressed by Luiz despite the team’s defeat at the weekend.
