Aston Villa fans praise 18-year-old Brad Young in FA Youth Cup final win v Liverpool
Aston Villa beat Liverpool in the FA Youth Cup final on Monday night – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter were blown away by the performance of their teenager Brad Young.
Villa’s Under-18s side lifted the trophy after beating Liverpool’s Under-18s in a gripping encounter.
The Midlands club beat their Merseyside opponents 2-1 in the cup final at Villa Park, and on the balance of play deserved it.
They raced into an early two-goal to ultimately win the encounter, with Ben Chrisene opening the scoring.
Young, who was won of the stars of the show, then doubled the advantage.
The 18-year-old forward stayed composed to tuck away his penalty into the bottom right corner after winning the spot-kick.
Liverpool reduced the deficit during the second half through Melkamu Frauendorf, but ultimately Villa held on for a win.
Academy prospect Young was superb throughout the match, causing the opposition’s backline real trouble with his direct and quick running in behind.
He was an influential figure during the youth competition by scoring in the Round of 16, quarter-final, semi-final and he finished with a penalty in the final.
Young is a star for the future, but he did make his first-team debut earlier in the season and also had the eyes of so many fans on Monday night that tuned in to watch.
