Aston Villa are reportedly interested in swooping for midfielder Josh McEachran this summer – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter have reacted badly to the speculation.

The 26-year-old is out of contract with Brentford this summer and will become available as a free agent.

According to the Sun, Villa boss Dean Smith is interested in the English central midfielder and is eyeing him.

Smith previously worked with him at Brentford and the pair could now form a reunion in the Premier League following Villa’s promotion.

The Midlands giants need to start building their squad for the top flight, after they beat Derby County in the Championship play-off final.

McEachran is a former Chelsea academy talent that struggled to break into first-team football as a youngster, but has spent the last four years with Brentford.

He is a left-footed midfielder that is tidy in possession and he often sits in the defensive role to help protect the back four.

A selection of Villa fans on social media have suggested that the Brentford ace is not good enough for them going into next season.

Jack Grealish, Conor Hourihane and John McGinn make up a formidable midfield trio right now, but there isn’t a huge amount of cover behind them.
