Aston Villa fans not keen on goalkeeper target Darren Randolph

Aston Villa are reportedly interested in Middlesbrough goalkeeper Darren Randolph – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter reacted badly to the speculation.

A selection of the club’s fanbase are convinced that the 32-year-old is a poor target for them this summer and would rather look elsewhere.

According to the Telegraph, Randolph is being considered by Villa this summer as they go in search of a new goalkeeper.

It is understood that Burnley’s Tom Heaton and Southampton’s Alex McCarthy have also been checked out.

Randolph may have made some individual errors in games against Villa last season, but overall was one of Boro’s strongest performers in the Championship.

He managed 19 clean sheets in the league for them and is still the first-choice option in goal for Republic of Ireland.

The shot-stopper is at the peak of his powers right now, but hasn’t had much of an opportunity in the Premier League and looks more comfortable in the second-tier.

Some Villa fans have made it clear they are interested in the Boro goalkeeper and feel he wouldn’t be an upgrade on Steer.
