It has been quite the summer for Aston Villa midfielder Jack Grealish. The playmaker was heavily linked with a £25 million move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer. However, Aston Villa stood firm and the attacker remained at Villa Park.
Yesterday, he confirmed his commitment to Aston Villa. The 23-year-old signed a new five-year deal at the club.
It seems that Grealish is now ready to remain at Aston Villa for the next five years. However, you can understand if some Aston Villa fans refuse not to take the news with a pinch of salt.
Because it is not long ago that Aston Villa found themselves in a similar position with Fabian Delph.

The England international left the club in July 2015. He joined Manchester City in a deal worth just £8 million.
This came just six months after he signed a new five-year deal to remain with the club. Even worse than that, were the comments he made a week previously. The midfield dynamo stated he would not be leaving Aston Villa on the 11th July 2015. On the 17th, he was unveiled at Manchester City.
“I’m aware there has been intense media speculation surrounding my future in the last 24 hours and I want to set the record straight. I’m not leaving. I’m staying at the football club and I can’t wait for the start of the season and captaining this great football club.”

Aston Villa fans know that Grealish will be getting itchy feet if the club cannot find promotion back to the Premier League as soon as possible.
Another year in the second tier, and Aston Villa could easily find themselves with a repeat scenario.
