Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly transfer-listed eight players this summer and one of the most senior figures on that list is Victor Wanyama – and Aston Villa fans are keen on the Kenya captain.
The Daily Mail claim Wanyama is joined by the likes of Danny Rose, Kieran Trippier, Serge Aurier, Vincent Janssen, as well as younger players Josh Onomah, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Marcus Edwards.
Wanyama, 28, struggled to nail down a regular place in Mauricio Pochettino’s side last season, with Harry Winks breaking into the side on a much more consistent basis while Moussa Sissoko has also been moved into the middle.
He managed just 22 appearances with the north Londoners, and now with the signing of Tanguy Ndombele from Olympique Lyonnais, Wanyama’s chances of first-team football are vanishing.
Aston Villa desperately need a holding midfielder after releasing veteran duo Glenn Whelan and Mile Jedinak, and have been linked with Leeds United star Kalvin Phillips for much of the window – though Leeds want £30million.
Villa fans reacted on Twitter to the reported news that ex-Southampton and Celtic midfielder Wanyama has been placed on the transfer list by the north Londoners, and many are desperate to see him in a Villa shirt this summer.

Would love to see us bid for Wanyama. Would be great as our DM & Spurs apparently looking to sell him. #avfc
