Tom Heaton made seven saves.

Aston Villa goalkeeper Tom Heaton kept his side in the game against Chelsea but could not prevent a loss.

The England stopper was in tremendous form at Stamford Bridge, pulling off seven saves. Some of the stops left Aston Villa fans in awe as he kept out a barrage of Chelsea attacks.

Chelsea eventually won the game 2-1. Tammy Abraham opened the scoring against his former club at Stamford Bridge. Then, Mason Mount scored the winner after Trezeguet’s equaliser.

Heaton was Aston Villa’s best player on Wednesday night by a mile. The 33-year-old, who arrived in the summer from Burnley, continues to impress the Aston Villa supporters.

Aston Villa fans are relieved that Heaton is now back after he missed the game against Wolves last month. He has played the last three games and he is an assured and experienced man between the posts.

After the Chelsea game, some Aston Villa players were criticised. But Heaton was hailed on social media for his display. Here are some tweets about Heaton’s “outstanding” performance against the Blues.
