Aston Villa star Tyrone Mings shone on his international debut as England thrashed Bulgaria 6-0.
In difficult circumstances, Mings emerged from the game with his head held high. His performance on the field was impressive and his behaviour in light of off-the-field events was exemplary.
On a night where the game was one step away from abandonment, as per the UEFA protocol against racism, Mings did well. He rose above the off-field antics and helped England keep a clean sheet.
In the recent past, England have been heavily criticised for having a leaky defence. Mings came into the starting line-up for out-of-sorts Everton defender Michael Keane and patched things up.
Mings: The ball-playing centre-back

Alongside Harry Maguire, Mings looked at home in the England defence. The 26-year-old was confident on the ball, he read the game well and he was dominant in the air and with the ball at his feet.
Gareth Southgate has been looking for a defender in Mings’ mould and his performance justified his selection. Standing at 6ft 5in tall, he is an aerial powerhouse. Also, Mings showcased his ball-playing ability with some confident passes and he even went on a couple of trademark surging runs.
Here are some Villa fans reacting to his debut.
