Aston Villa are reportedly set to offer Brentford £20 million for their star striker Neal Maupay this summer. The Sun is reporting that Aston Villa are ready to pay the fee for the player as a replacement for Tammy Abraham, who will be heading back to Chelsea.

Maupay was a star in the Championship last season. The 22-year-old scored 28 goals in all competitions, many of which came under the guidance of Aston Villa boss Dean Smith.

The pair worked together at Griffin Park which could also give Aston Villa the edge in any transfer discussions.

It is certainly a story that has divided opinion among Aston Villa fans on Twitter.

One major sticking point for many is that price-tag. It would be a club record amount and Aston Villa fans are wary of spending such a high amount on a player with no Premier League experience.

Others, however, have been quick to point out his brilliant form in the Championship last season. That can certainly not be ignored and plenty of other teams are reportedly interested in signing the player this summer.

If Aston Villa could secure his signature at a lesser price, it seems that fans would be universally on board with the Frenchman’s arrival at Villa Park.
