Aston Villa fans express sympathy for Mbwana Samatta after Leicester defeat
A number of Aston Villa fans took to Twitter to express some sympathy for Mbwana Samatta following the Villans’ defeat to Leicester City on Monday.
Dean Smith’s men missed the chance to move out of the relegation zone at the King Power Stadium. They were beaten 4-0, with the Foxes scoring three times after the hour mark.

It was a frustrating night for Samatta. Whoscored.com shows that he managed just one attempt on goal – and that went off target.
The Tanzania international made an impact in last week’s Carabao Cup final with a goal to make things interesting against Manchester City.

And plenty of fans believe that Samatta is one of the players who should not shoulder much of the blame for Monday’s mauling.
The supporters felt that he was starved of service, and they saw enough to suggest that he was one of the players putting in enough of a shift.
Whoscored.com shows that no player who started the game enjoyed a smaller percentage of possession, and he only managed 28 touches.
In fairness, he actually won four aerial duels and three tackles. Only a handful of players performed better in those particular areas.
Samatta has made a promising start to life at Villa. And the fans believe that he could make an impact during the coming months – but they are imploring his teammates to give him something to work with.
Here is what some of the supporters made of Samatta’s display…
Credit where it’s due, Nakamba put a shift in, and so did Samatta even though he was starved off the ball.

What I don’t get is how you can go from being dominant and taking the game to them in the first 10 to not having a clue how to defend or move the ball. Felt sorry for Samatta so isolated & we can’t even get the ball to Grealish. Just no words

Absolutely awful tonight; grealish non existent, defence woeful, samatta can’t do anything with no service. Davis was ok when he came on. Mings can wave goodbye to the euros and we can wave goodbye to the premier league. #avfc

I like Samatta I think you can tell hes got real quality, however we arent good enough as a team. As good as Grealish is, he or Samatta cant carry us every game unfortunatly. I dont rate Nakamba at all mate, works hard, no ability for me

Nakamba and Samatta the only men to walk away from that pathetic display with anything resembling credit. Villa simply don’t have enough quality to compete at this level.

davis
samatta
mingsend of list.

Nakamba and Samatta the only ones to come out of tonight with any credit
