Aston Villa fans excited by their reported interest in Celtic 21-year-old
Aston Villa are reportedly interested in trying to sign Celtic’s David Turnbull – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter are extremely positive about the transfer speculation.
Villa’s links are to a highly-rated midfielder that was a key performer this season for Celtic, who ended up finishing second in the Scottish Premiership league table.
According to the Scottish Sun, Dean Smith’s side are plotting a £7million bid to try bring the attacking midfielder to the Premier League.
It is explained that Villa have been impressed after watching the 21-year-old in action several times this season, and the Midlands club are aiming to find a new goalscoring midfielder in this summer’s transfer market.
A selection of Villa supporters on social media believe that Celtic’s young talent could be a great transfer target for them.
Turnbull, 21, settled effortlessly at a giant club like Celtic after only joining from Motherwell last summer.
He’s not been phased by a move to one of Scotland’s elite teams, and has consistently been one of the side’s standout performers during what has been a difficult season where they’ve lost their league crown.
Smith’s side go into this weekend’s final Premier League game of the season knowing they will finish 11th regardless of results, which will bring to the end an excellent campaign.
However, they’ll be ambitious to build again to keep heading up the table.
Turnbull is an attacking threat playing as an advanced midfielder, scoring nine goals and setting up eight assists during this season for Celtic.
Here are some Villa fans discussing Turnbull:
He’s class 7m would be a bargain . If we can get pereira in aswell we would have turnball pereira and Carney fighting for that number 10 position
